LLVM is an abbreviation of "Low Level Virtual Machine"; LLVM is:

  • A compilation strategy
  • A virtual instruction set
  • A compiler infrastructure

It is developed by the University of Illinois. It is implemented on many platforms, amongst others the iPhone.
