Would it be possible not to use <DT> and <DL> tags? I think it would be more appropriate to use standard headers, so the title of each book appears in the table of contents of the page.

Ro/Haskell Books

Would you like to add this two books, too. One of them is available on-line. Or should be from some networks. The other is presented on the main page and has a foreword by Simon P.J.

Thanx

Dan

Book #1 12 oct 2008 Am primit cu bucurie din partea Domnului Conf. Dr. Mihai Gontineac urmatoarea veste:

Salut, (Hi)

Am reusit sa-mi fac update la site si cartea se gaseste pe link-ul (I have just updated my site and the book can be find using this link!)

Cursuri ProgramareFunctionala

http://www.math.uaic.ro/~gonti/Cursuri/ProgramareFunctionala/ProgrFunct.pdf Sper ca este OK. (I jope it's ok.)

In rest (...)Spor in toate, (Looking forward to hear about you.)

Mihai (Mike :) )

Book #2

Practica interpretarii monadice, a new textbook on Monadic interpretation in Haskell from MatrixRom is now available. (Romania and Moldova)

I think this page needs a serious facelift.

I've copied the old stuff and changed the formatting a little bit but I think this should probably be split up and that books and papers should have their own pages. I don't like the formatting - it would be nice for someone to write a template to make this look nicer.

I suggest the "Haskell Companion" is (again) added to this page. While no longer available from the original url, it is still available from archive.org:

I wonder if we should link to http://www.cs.chalmers.se/~rjmh/tutorials.html ? SamB 17:19, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

I'd like to suggest to place the book covers in the left margin (Hawiki skin) and to make them larger. Ideally all should have the same width (of course we would need new images of this size).

Achieving this would require changing the template (or whatever - I don't know how this would be done) so that the cover img-elements have a style equivalent to:

style="margin-left: -90px; margin-bottom: 10px; float: left"

where 90 = width of cover (e.g. 80px) + some padding (e.g. 10px)

The dt-elements would have to have a style="clear: left" to avoid overlaps of cover images.

(I tried this out with Safari, adding these style attributes to the respective elements in the debugging view. This would have to be checked with Firefox and IE.)

A couple of suggestions:

  1. Jan van Eijck's Computational Semantics is listed under Foundations, but the book (published as Computational Semantics with Functional Programming) is really about natural language processing. It might not be worthwhile to create a category just for that book, but perhaps have a section on "Applications" (or is that was Section 3 was supposed to be?)
  2. Add Richard Bird's Pearls of Functional Algorithm Design
  3. Include Learn You a Haskell for Great Good! since it's now published.
